James Reed Warren passed away Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, in McAllen, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James McClain and Helen Reed Warren; his wife, Patricia Dunbar Warren; and sister, Ann Leming.

He is survived by his wife, Carole Inks Warren; sister, Martha (Mark) Musgrove; children, James (Coke) Warren and Ashley (John) Johnson; grandchildren, Kegan Reed Johnson and Aubrey Ann Johnson; and stepchildren, Jay (Lori) Inks and Jacqueline Inks (Horacio) Gonzalez.

Jim had a varied career over his lifetime, including a family farming business in Crystal City, Texas; restaurateur in Sikeston, Missouri; and many years in the insurance business in Harlingen and Corpus Christi, Texas.

He retired to the Texas Rio Grande Valley in 2001, and reunited with old friends and became an elder in the Presbyterian church. But most of all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many. He made a positive, memorable impression on everyone he met. He loved to hear their stories and tell a few of his own.
