James Warner

James R. Warner, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 29, 2008, at his home.

He was born Feb. 11, 1925, in New Madrid County, Mo., son of Robert Henry and Ruth Mae Brown Warner. He and Evelyn Warner were married Sept. 29, 1945, in Cape Girardeau.

Warner served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a letter carrier 27 years at the U.S. Post Office in Cape Girardeau, retiring in January 1988. He was a member of VFW Post 3838, American Legion Post 63, Disabled American Veterans and Letter Carriers Union.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Henry Warner of Jackson; four daughters, Rita Beasley and Paula Sebastian of Cape Girardeau, Carol Williams of Oak Ridge, Tonya Tollison of Jackson; a brother, Orville Warner of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Edna Carter of Scott City; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call from noon to service time Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum with full military rites by VFW Post 3838 and Missouri Honors Team.
