James Miller Wallace of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Charleston, Mo., died at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau Friday, Aug. 18, 2000.
He was born Dec. 9, 1915 at Kennett, Mo., son of Milton W. Wallace and Mary Elizabeth Baker Wallace.
He married Marion Kroemmelbein. She died in 1991.
He had been self employed as a farmer and land appraiser. He was a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia. He was a member of the Charleston United Methodist Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a member of the VFW at Charleston; he served as district governor and first-vice president and secretary of the Lions Club of Southeast Missouri 18 years. He was a member of the Audubon Society at Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include a son, Alan B. Wallace of Racine, Wis.; daughters Katherine L. Tetreault of New Richmond, Va., Patricia A. Wallace, London, England, Elizabeth K. Wallace of Princeton Junction, N.J., and Jane M. Wallace, of San Francisco, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau Sept. 9 at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Clayton L. Smith officiating.
