James W. "Jay" Johnson of 205 Barberry died Friday, July 24, 1998, at home. He was 52.

He was born Aug. 31, 1945, in Cape Girardeau, son of Oral R. and Hazel L. McClard Johnson. He married Joyce A. Schabbing June 8, 1968, in Cape Girardeau. She survives.

He was a 1963 Cape Central High School graduate and had worked for Auto Tire and Parts in Cape Girardeau since 1979. He was a former member of the Missouri National Guard.

He also is survived by two daughters, Jeana Stanhope and Jill Johnson, both of Cape Girardeau; and a sister, Delores Tackett of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, with Monsignor. Richard Rolwing officiating.

Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.
