CHARLESTON -- James Virgil Stroud, 86, formerly of Charleston, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1993 at the Carriage Hill Retirement Center in Bedford, Va. CHARLESTON -- James Virgil Stroud, 86, formerly of Charleston, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1993 at the Carriage Hill Retirement Center in Bedford, Va.

He was born Oct. 27, 1906 at Brashear, Mo., son of Cleophus A. and Mabel Robertson Stroud. He was a retired school teacher and a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Charleston.

On Oct. 27, 1934, he married Thelma Fontelle Connor who preceded him in death Aug. 24, 1982.

Surviving are one son, James Stroud, Bedford, Va.; two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.

Friends may call Tuesday after 10 a.m. at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston.
