BENTON -- Funeral Mass for James Monroe "Tex" Urhahn, Benton Route 1, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Denis Catholic Church. The Rev. Normand Varone will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton after 4 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.
Urhahn, 49, died Tuesday, June 24, 1997, at his home.
He was born Dec. 29, 1947, in Cape Girardeau, son of Theon Peter and Lorene Wesley Hawkins Urhahn. He and Barbara Kathryn Scherer were married July 26, 1969, at Benton.
Urhahn was sales manager at Campus Auto and Tire in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of St. Denis Church, VFW Post 3127 at Chaffee, and Eagles Aerie 3319 at Sikeston.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served with the 1st Infantry Division from October 1967 to October 1968 in Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jimmy Joe Urhahn of Scott City; two brothers, Curly Urhahn of Benton, Butch Urhahn of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Patsy Schlosser and Joan Kerby of Benton; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
