James Howard Tindall, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013 at the Missouri Veterans Home.
He was born Thursday, Aug. 25, 1921, in Rockwood, Ill., to the late John and Ruby Fulford Tindall. He and Irene Higgins were married Saturday, Sept. 21, 1940, in Perryville, Mo.
James served in the U.S. Army during World War II, worked as a Teamsters truck driver and retired from ABF trucking. He was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church and the H.O. Grauel Lodge No. 672 AF&AM. James was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Irene Tindall of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Gloria Jean Dunbar of Eugene, Ore.; two granddaughters, Rena and Leah Dunbar, both of Eugene; and four great-grandchildren, Jonah, Solstice, Lilah and Jameson.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Lee and Wilbur Tindall; and two sisters, Ruth Murden and Olive Harrison.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. A Rose Croix Scottish rite service and Masonic service will also be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Chester, Ill., with full military rites.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Missouri Veterans Home.
