JONESBORO, Ill. -- James E. Smith, 58, of Jonesboro died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Nov. 12, 1942, in Chicago, he was the son of Charles R. and Sylvia E. Bickel Smith.
On Aug. 3, 1963, he married Judith A. Sandin.
Smith was a pipefitter and a member of the Pipefitters Union Local 597 in Chicago.
Survivors include his wife of Jonesboro; one daughter, Noreen Griffin of Holly Springs Miss.; two sons, Matthew Smith of Melrose Park, Ill., Brian Smith of Creal Springs, Ill.; one brother, William Smith of River Grove, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.
Private funeral service will be held at St. John's Cemetery in Dongola. Arrangements are under the direction of Crain Funeral Home.
