James B. "Jim" Schweer, 61, of St. Louis, formerly of Jackson, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Evelyn's House Hospice Facility in St. Louis.
He was born Nov. 19, 1956, in Sikeston, Missouri, son of Harold "Skeeter" and JoAnn Matz Schweer. He and Gina Hertlein were married May 3, 1986.
Jim was a 1975 graduate of Jackson High School. He was a member of Christ Memorial Lutheran Church in St. Louis.
He worked for Indoff Inc. (formerly Allied National Appliance) in St. Louis, retiring in December 2016 due to declining health. Being an avid St. Louis sports fan, Jim enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals, the former St. Louis Rams and St. Louis Blues hockey teams. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandpa, a friend to many and never met a stranger.
In addition to his wife of 31 years, Gina Schweer of St. Louis, loving survivors include three children, Julie (William) Adams of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Chris Schweer of St. Louis and Ashley Schweer of St. Louis; a grandson, Liam Adams; a sister, Teresa (Dave) Koch of Jackson; his stepmother, Kathy Schweer of Cape Girardeau; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Kimberly Schweer.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church, with Pastor Jeff Cloeter and Pastor William Simmons officiating. A private burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in St. Louis.
The family suggests contributions be made to Christ Memorial Lutheran Church in St. Louis.
