ROLLA -- Funeral Mass for James E. Schumacher of Rolla was held Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Rolla, with the Revs. Robert Schumacher and Donald Wallace officiating.

Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla was in charge of arrangements.

Schumacher, 75, died Friday, March 14, 1997, at his home.

He was born March 6, 1922, at Benton, son of John Henry and Agnes M. Bigler Schumacher. He married Glayds Diebold of Benton.

Schumacher was reared in Kelso. He was a partner in Cape Central Airways in Cape Girardeau before moving to Rolla in 1955, where he worked in real estate. He was a member of Rolla City Council and St. Patrick's Church.

He was a first lieutenant and a C47 transport pilot during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Mary Hoffmeyer, Karen Martin, Janet Schumacher, Jean Schumacher and Lynne Nisbet; three sons, Joseph Schumacher, Mark Schumacher and John Schumacher; a sister, Mary Asip; three brothers, Leonard Schumacher, Tom Schumacher, the Rev. Robert Schumacher; and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and grandson.
