James Wilson Rowland, 61, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, June 20, 2008, in Jackson.

He was born May 27, 1947, in Illmo, Mo., son of Clyde and Mary Elizabeth Wilson Rowland. He and Sharon K. Garms Rowland were married Jan. 15, 1972, in Cape Girardeau.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cape Girardeau and Charleston, Mo.

Rowland was a motor oil engineer and was certified in lubricants. He and his wife were the owners of Eagle Oil Co., in Jackson.

He first started working at Bishop Chevrolet in Cape Girardeau. He later was a foreman with Potashnick Construction Inc. from 1972 to 1982. In 1982 he started J.W. Rowland Inc. He did business as Eagle Oil Co.

He was co-owner with his son in Creative Trim & Performance in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his wife of Cape Girardeau; his son, Travis L. Rowland of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Christy Bleily of Boise, Idaho, and Jennifer R. Rowland of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Roberta Wheeler of Scott City and Melvia Rowland of Petaluma, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, with Masonic services at 7 p.m.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jeff Long officiating.

Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau with full military honors by the Missouri Honors Team.
