James Romines

James "J.R." Romines, 73, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, March 8, 2007, at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 10, 1933, in Kennett, Mo., son of Jimmy and Etta Clay Romines.

He was a resident of Cape Girardeau since 1954. He worked several years at VIP Industries in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include a sister, Anna Mae Myer of Cape Girardeau; a niece, Effie (Ray) Faire of Cape Girardeau; eight nephews, Robert "Bob", Michael (Sahar), and Jesse Dorris, all of Cape Girardeau, Cecil (Wanda) Dorris of Belvidere, Ill., William (Rhonda) Dorris of Altenburg, Mo., Dennis Dorris of Green Bay, Wis., Paul (Linda) Dorris of Culman, Ala., Carl Dorris of Jackson; and many great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a half brother, Herschel "Cad" Romines; two half sisters, Nola Romines Massey and Ella Romines, who died in infancy; and a nephew, Jimmie Dorris.

J.R. loved to fish, watch western movies, read and most of all spend time with his family and friends. J.R. touched the lives of all who knew him.

He loved his family very much and he brought joy to everyone. It didn't take much to make J.R. happy. As someone said, who wouldn't like J.R.?

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with David Hess officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.

Nephews will be pallbearers.
