EAST PRAIRIE -- James Wade Riggins, 81, of East Prairie, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 9, 1917, in Gurley, Ala., son of Pet and Bunea White Riggins. He married Mary Sue Melton on Oct. 8, 1938. She survives.
He was a retired farmer and attended First General Baptist Church in East Prairie.
Other survivors include, eight sons, Herschel, Larry, Tony, Wayne, Bobby Joe and Steve Riggins, all of East Prairie, Sammy Riggins of Hazel Green, Ala., and Jerry Riggins of Pearl City, Hawaii; five daughters, Juanita Brock of Anniston, Betty Shands of Charleston, Wanda Ditto and Brenda Patrick, both of East Prairie, and Rose Mary Fechner of Sequin, Texas; 32 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Brothers Bob Williams and Ernest Brown officiating.
Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
