EAST PRAIRIE -- James Raymond Winchester, 41, of East Prairie, died Monday, Jan. 20, 1992, from injuries received in a vehicle accident.

He was born Jan. 22, 1950, in Cape Girardeau, son of William Henderson and Dorothy Maude Buntin Winchester. He and Susan Shelby were married July 27, 1974.

Winchester attended the University of Missouri, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity.

He was president of Winchester Leasing and Financial Co. in Sikeston. He was a lay member of Nelson Memorial Methodist Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, member of the administrative board and Council of Ministries.

Winchester served on the board of the Epworth Children's Foundation in St. Louis, the founding board of the Bootheel Epworth Project, and was a member of East Prairie R-2 Board of Education.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Shelby and Riley Winchester of the home; two brothers, Hense and Stephen Winchester of Sikeston, and a sister, Lisa Miller of Collierville, Tenn.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel here. The Rev. Clint Wofford will officiate, with burial in IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
