James B. Pierce, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, at Missouri Veterans Home.
He was born Oct. 29, 1917, at Jackson, son of Victor C. and Lorena P. Wahl Pierce. He and Rosie Koenig were married Sept. 16, 1939, at Jackson.
Pierce was a truck driver 35 years. He began work with Kimbel Trucking, which was bought by Delta and later by ABF Truckline.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Trinity Lutheran Men, Teamsters Silver Jubilee Retirees Club, and American Legion Post 133 in Perryville. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bobby and Larry Pierce of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Janet Mungle and Patricia Heider of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Daisy Gaines of Jackson; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-stepgrandson.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. David Hintz officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
