WYATT -- James P. "Jim" Padgett, 77, of Wyatt,died Sunday, June 25, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born May 29, 1918, in the Henson community of Mississippi County, the son of Anthony Wayne and Julia Wilcox Padgett. He married Catherine Corbitt Dec. 21, 1947...

WYATT -- James P. "Jim" Padgett, 77, of Wyatt,died Sunday, June 25, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 29, 1918, in the Henson community of Mississippi County, the son of Anthony Wayne and Julia Wilcox Padgett. He married Catherine Corbitt Dec. 21, 1947.

He was a member of Gravel Ridge Baptist Church and VFW Post 4294. He farmed until 1954, and then was a bookkeeper for Raffety and Company of Wyatt, and was later employed with Imperial County Airport of Imperial Valley, Calif. He moved back to Wyatt in 1985. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, John Anthony Padgett of Durant, Okla.; a daughter, Cathy Dansby-Roberts of Durant; a brother, Allen Padgett of Mayfield, Ky.; two sisters, Ruth Ward of Sun City, Ariz., and Juanita Cherry of Charleston; and a granddaughter.

Two brothers preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Delbert Bishop will officiate, and burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Charleston.
