COMMERCE -- Funeral services for James Preston Jackson, 65, of Commerce, will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Commerce Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until noon today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Scott City, and from 1-2 p.m. at the church.
He died Friday Sept. 9, 1994, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. He was born Oct. 21, 1928 at Brownsville, Tenn., the son of Cecil Carmack and Edna Pearl Daugherty Carmack Blackwelder. On Nov. 11, 1950, he married "Tina" Lovetta Justine Alberson at Piggott, Ark., who survives.
Jackson was a member of the Commerce Baptist Church and retired from Arkansas Best Freight in 1985. He was also a member of the Morley Masonic Lodge No. 184.
Besides his wife, survivors include: his mother, Edna Blackwelder of Clarksville, Tenn.; two sons, Ronnie Jackson of Scott City and Cecil Jackson of Alton, Mo.; one brother, Phillip Beck of Clarksville; two sisters, Wilma Smith of Danville, Ill., and Juanita Spurgeon of Clarksville; and seven grandchildren.
Rev. David Thompson, pastor of the Commerce Baptist Church, will officiate at funeral services today, and burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery at Commerce.
