James T. Newbern, 70, was born May 11, 1951, in Brownsville, Tennessee, to the proud parents William Roscoe and Mintry V. Sullivan Newbern Sr.

James was surrounded by his family at Life Care Center, when he transitioned from earth to glory Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, at 8:25 a.m.

James served in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed sports and music.

He worked at Cerro Flow Products in Sauget, Illinois, for 28 years.

He was a believer of Jesus Christ who was the Savior of his soul.

Survivors include a son, Terrvell (Sharee) Williams of Cape Girardeau; six brothers, William Thomas (Ethel) Newbern of Decatur, Illinois; Earl Thomas Reed of Dayton, Ohio; William Roscoe Newbern Jr. of Cape Girardeau; Dwight Newbern of Decatur; Robert (Trish) Newbern of Cape Girardeau; and Andre Newbern of St. Louis; four sisters, Joyce (Vince) Collins of Jackson, Tennessee; Jeanette (Alfred) Hawkins of O'Fallon, Missouri; Mable (Charlie) Kent of Bartlett, Tennessee; and Lily (Leroy) Braden of Cape Girardeau; a special sister-in-law, Brenda Newbern of Cape Girardeau; a special friend, Brian Perry of Cape Girardeau; and numerous other loving family members.

James was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, two brothers and a sister.

There will be no visitation.

Funeral service will be at noon Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau with Bishop James Wills officiating.
