James David Nance, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born Jan. 25, 1936, in Chaffee, Missouri, to Adam Sylvester and Daisy Arizona Nance.
Jim served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1962 and was stationed in Germany.
He worked for General Electric for 10 years. He then worked for Craftsman Union No. 1, before retiring in 2001 from the City of Cape Girardeau Parks Department. Jim was a lifelong member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3838.
Survivors include his beloved friend, Mary Pettit of Cape Girardeau; brother-in-law, Donald R. Roberts of Cape Girardeau; two nephews, David Roberts of Cape Girardeau and Collin HaFele of Jackson; and nieces, Karen Nance of Cape Girardeau, Sharon Riemenschneider and Debra Stone-Hornback, both of Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leon, Cletus and Clifford Nance; and sisters, Virgie Nance Hill and Marjorie Roberts.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
