James H. Murray, 72, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, July 18, 2016, at the Missouri Veterans Home.
He was born March 28, 1944, in Oliver Springs, Tennessee, to Edward and Easter Walls Murray. He and Gleda Burk were married June 25, 1983, at Memphis, Tennessee.
He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a machinist and fork-lift operator and retired from Rubbermaid in Jackson after six years of service. James loved his family, church and country.
Survivors include his wife, Gleda Murray of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Lacretia Taylor; and a brother, John Wesley Branham, both of Memphis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edward.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lee Thompson officiating. Burial will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military honors conducted by the Missouri Honors Team.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be given to the Missouri Veterans Home, 2400 Veterans Memorial Drive, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
