James Kevin Mize, 61, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, at his home.

He was born June 23, 1960, in Cape Girardeau to Billy E. and Ethel J. Criddle Mize.

He graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1978.

He and Carol Ann Brantley were married July 28, 2001, in Oak Ridge.

He served as an electrician mate in the U.S. Navy from 1978 to 1984.

He had worked for Spartech Plastics and Dutch Enterprise and was a journeyman electrician for Cotner Electric.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Ann Mize of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Travis D. Lee of Chaffee, Missouri, and Timothy L. Mize of Louisville, Kentucky; grandson, Isaiah James Mize (and his mother, Samantha Bass); mother, Ethel J. Mize of Jackson; brother, Micheal E. (Debra Dalton) Mize of Marble Hill, Missouri; sister-in-law, Karla Mize of Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billy E. Mize; brother, Dennis W. Mize; maternal grandparents, James and Mabel Criddle; and paternal grandparents, Ernest and Lena Mize.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jeff Estes officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, with full military honors.

Memorial contributions may be given to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or Maple United Methodist Church.
