SIKESTON -- Funeral for James F. Komis of Oakland City, Ind., was held March 4 at Lamb and Basham Memorial Chapel in Oakland City, with the Rev. Stephen Lintzenich officiating. Burial was in Locust Hill Cemetery in Evansville, Ind.
Komis, 76, died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Oakland City.
He was born April 4, 1921, at St. Joseph. He and Ruth Drexler have been married 46 years. They were formerly of Sikeston.
Komis was a salesman, and while residing in Missouri worked for Huntington Laboratories.
He was active in the Gibson County Democratic Party, and was a member of the Bombardier Group Inc. He served on the Oakland City Library Board during the conception and construction of the new library.
Komis served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, James Komis Jr. of St. Louis; two daughters, Cathy Komis of Wrightsville Beach, N.C., Ann Komis of Evansville; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son.
