SIKESTON, Mo. -- James Ernest Kennedy, 76, of Bonne Terre, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at Parkland Hospital in Farmington, Mo.
He was born July 25, 1927, in Perry, Miss., son of Dayton and Alice Kennedy. He and Barbara Alice "Betty" McDowell Comstock were married July 27, 1979. She died Dec. 19, 1999.
Kennedy was a retired self-employed farmer, and was formerly of Sikeston.
Survivors include two sons, James Kennedy of Bonne Terre, Bobby Kennedy of Lilbourn, Mo.; two daughters, Camilla Byerly of LaForge, Mo., Connie Byerly of Murray, Ky.; two stepsons, Lee and Jimmy Comstock of Dexter, Mo.; two brothers, Stanley Kennedy of Matthews, Mo., Lee Kennedy of East Prairie, Mo.; a sister, Nancy Reese of New Madrid, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nine great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepson.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, with Pat Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
