PEKIN, Ill. -- James Albert "Pepper" Kaufman, 75, of Pekin died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Pekin Hospital.
He was born Dec. 22, 1926, in McClure, Ill., son of Albert Frank and Flona Helen Jackson Kaufman. He and Reva E. Colyer were married Sept. 16, 1948, in Piggott, Ark.
Kaufman was a laborer for Corn Products Co. in Pekin, retiring from Pekin Energy in 1989 with 41 years of service. He was a member of Pioneer Club at Corn Products, Miller Senior Citizens Center in Pekin, and volunteered with Pekin Township. He attended Calvary Baptist Church.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Karen Brust of Peoria, Ill., Linda Behm of North Pekin, Ill., Debbie Bond of Las Vegas, Nev.; a son, J. Scott Kaufman of Pekin; two brothers, Thomas Kaufman of Pekin, Robert Kaufman of McClure; two sisters, Celeste Goss of Pekin, Ruth Ann Sides of Jackson, Mo.; five grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and seven great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
Friends may call at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Michael McLeod officiating. Burial will be in Woodrow Cemetery, with military rites to be conducted.
