James Jones

James Hartwell Jones, 93, of Oran, Mo., died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born April 18, 1913, in Mascoutah, Ill., son of John Robert Jones and Callie Susanna Darrah Jones. He and Catherine Theresa Schott were married May 29, 1939.

Jones was a farmer and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Oran. He was a member of the United Methodist Men's Club, a former president of the Perkins Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Methodist Church Sunshine Club.

Survivors include a son, John Robert Jones of Oran; three daughters, Margaret Blackstone of Delta, Mo., Elda Jane Murphy of Atlanta and Jane Huebner of Niceville, Fla.; a niece who he raised, Linda Glastetter of Benton, Mo; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, seven brothers and a sister.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Oran. The Rev. Don Gandt will officiate, with burial in Friend Cemetery in Oran.
