JACKSON -- Funeral service for James J. Harris of Jackson will be held at 11 a.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Caroll Gibbons will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Harris, 69 years old, died Saturday, March 23, 1991, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

He was born Nov. 19, 1921, at Leora, son of James and Maude Eaker Harris. He and the former Patsy Brown were married Jan. 28, 1954.

The family moved to Jackson 17 years ago from Oak Ridge. He was a machinist at Lenco Corp., retiring in 1986. Harris served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Tim Harris of Jackson, Ronald Dallas of North Richland Hills, Tex., James Harris of Texas City, Tex.; two daughters, Rebecca Kent and Dorothy Nanney of Jackson; three brothers, Frank Harris of Jackson, Ethelbert and Virgil Harris of St. Louis; a sister, Elsie Nesler of St. Louis; nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five sisters and a brother.
