MARQUAND, Mo. -- James Lowell Hickman, 83, of Marquand died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Claru DeVille Nursing Center in Fredericktown, Mo.
He was born Nov. 5, 1924, in Williamsburg, Mo., son of James Bradley and Lucy Ann Qualls Hickman. He and Mary Ruth Sterner were married Aug. 15, 1943.
Hickman farmed in the Williamsburg, Kingdom City and Readsville, Mo., area most of his life. He was also a sales representative with Armour Fertilizer Co., and retired from the state of Missouri in 1996.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Edward Hickman of Williamsburg; two daughters, Carol Schabbing of Jackson, Ruth Duffel of Marquand; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, two grandchildren, four brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time today at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, Mo.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at the funeral home, with Bruce Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Calwood, Mo.
Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.
