JACKSON -- James Howard McDowell, 82, of Jackson, died Monday, Dec. 14, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Oct. 23, 1910, at Fruitland, son of Charles J. and Nellie May Howard McDowell. McDowell was a retired carpenter, and member of Living Way Fellowship in Cape Girardeau. He helped build several churches in the Cape Girardeau and St. Louis areas, and received several awards for this service...

JACKSON -- James Howard McDowell, 82, of Jackson, died Monday, Dec. 14, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 23, 1910, at Fruitland, son of Charles J. and Nellie May Howard McDowell.

McDowell was a retired carpenter, and member of Living Way Fellowship in Cape Girardeau. He helped build several churches in the Cape Girardeau and St. Louis areas, and received several awards for this service.

Survivors include a son, Charles B. McDowell of Jackson; three daughters, Jeannette Stone and Deianne Farrar of Cape Girardeau, Elda Keller of Kankakee, Ill.; two brothers, Elliott McDowell of Scottsdale, Ariz., Lloyd McDowell of Homestead, Fla.; two sisters, Wilma Whitledge of Fruitland, Genevieve Chapman of Tonawanda, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Living Way Fellowship. Pastor Mike Woelk will officiate, with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Fruitland.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau from 4-8 p.m. today.
