BELLEVILLE, Ill. -- James Cecil Green, 79, of Belleville, formerly of Granite City, Ill., passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born Sept. 15, 1933, in Venice, Ill., son of Cecil Clay and Audney Lee Cole Green. In 1978, Jim married Catherine Moutell, the love of his life.

Jim was owner of James Green Enterprises in Granite City. He enjoyed going to work everyday at the office and reading numerous books about history. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by two dear sons, Alan Wayne Green and Jimmy Ray Green; two sisters, Betty Johnson and Geraldine Simpson.

Jim is survived by his wife, Catherine Green of Belleville; two dear daughters, Carlea Drury and Dana (Anthony) Turnbough of Granite City; four grandchildren, Ashley McCra, Jessicca (Alan) Watson, Claire Drury, Justin Green; four great-grandchildren, Austin Prindable, Carl Prindable, Lucas Watson and Carter James Watson; a sister, Judith (John) Reese of Atlanta, Ga.; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City.

In celebration of his life, the funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Rich Cope officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens at Fairview Heights, Ill.

Memorial donations may be given to American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
