BLOOMFIELD -- James L. Evans, 79, of Bloomfield died Monday, Jan. 13, 1998, at Lucy Lee Hospital in Poplar Bluff.
He was born Aug. 17, 1918, at Bloomfield, son of Walter Lee and Mamie Aslin Evans. He and Margarette Magee were married in May 1938. She died Nov. 6, 1996.
Evans retired as a salesman with Christian-Singer Food Brokers of Poplar Bluff. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church, member and past master of Bloomfield Masonic Lodge 153 AF&AM, member of Scottish Rite, Valley of St. Louis, and Shrine Club. He was treasurer of Walker Cemetery Board many years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet Sisson of Vienna, Va.; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Thursday. Masonic rites will be at 7.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Greg Greason officiating. Burial will be in Walker Cemetery.
