James "Jim" Allen Eakin passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020, at The Palms in Sebring, Florida. He was born to Othel and Mary Alice Reed Eakin on July 3, 1941, in Atkins, Arkansas. James "Jim" Allen Eakin passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020, at The Palms in Sebring, Florida.

He was born to Othel and Mary Alice Reed Eakin on July 3, 1941, in Atkins, Arkansas.

He lived most of his life in Cape Girardeau. He became a resident of Avon Park, Florida, in 2019. Jim married Michelle Armstrong on Dec. 20, 1999.

He was owner, operator and barber for 20 years of Campus Barber Shop. It later became Campus Auto and Tire, which he owned and operated until he retired in 2012.

After retiring, Jim loved to travel with his wife, Michelle, and settled in Avon Park. He was an avid golfer, loved riding his motorcycle, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

Jim had a great sense of humor and touched the hearts of everyone he met. He will be truly missed but never forgotten by those who knew him.

He was a member of Cape Jaycees, Lynwood Baptist Church and Cape Elks Lodge No. 639.

He leaves behind his best friend and devoted wife of 20 years, Michelle; son, Chris Eakin; daughters, Dr. Lori Nesslein and Casey Rouggly; grandchildren, Tyler, Krisman, Kaylee, Brynn, Mason, Miles and Collyn; and their two dogs, Trixie and Boscoe; brothers, Dr. Kenneth "Max" (Linda) Eakin and Terry Eakin; sister, Sandy (Bob) Benefield; aunt, Francis; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Cleo Burton and Betty Rampley; and his first wife, Brenda.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with an Elks service at 7 p.m., Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations made to a charity of your choice in Jim's name.
