ROLLA -- James E. Schumacher, 75, of Rolla died Friday, March 14, 1997, at his home.
He was born March 6, 1922, at Benton to John Henry and Angus M. Bigler Schumacher and grew up in Kelso.
He was married to Gladys Diebold of Benton.
He was a lieutenant serving in the European Theatre during World War II.
He was a partner in Cape Central Airways in Cape Girardeau before moving to Rolla in 1955, where he worked in real estate, was a member of the Rolla City Council and an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Mary Hoffmeyer, Karen Martin, Janet Schumacher, Jean Schumacher and Lynne Nisbet; three sons, Joseph Schumacher, Mark Schumacher and John Schumacher; one sister, Mary Asip; three brothers, Leonard Schumacher, Tom Schumacher and Father Robert Schumacher; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and a grandson.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Rolla at Null and Sons Funeral Home, where there will be a prayer serive at 6 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Rolla with Father Robert Schumacher and Father Donald Wallace officiating.
