Funeral service for James "Tate" Duncan Jr., 23 S. Hanover, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. The Rev. Leoma Leigh will officiate, with burial in Fairmount Cemetery. Graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 3838.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today.
Duncan, 68, died Thursday, June 11, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 2, 1923, at Hannibal, son of James and Gertrude Cheers Duncan. He and Louise Cardwell were married Feb. 3, 1973, in Cape Girardeau.
Duncan was in the U.S. Army 20 years, retiring in July 1963 as a demolition specialist. He served in World War II and Korea.
He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1964, and worked for a time at D.L. Harris and Co. Duncan was head custodian at the Vo-Tech School 19 years, retiring in 1989. He attended St. James AME Church.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Yvonne Egson of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Clinton Duncan of Hannibal, LeRoy Berry of Louisiana, Mo.; a sister, Anna Letcher of Lincoln, Neb., and three grandchildren.
