James "J.R." Dodd, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, June 19, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Dec. 10, 1929, in Manila, Ark., son of Truman Elder and Ruby Dodd. He and Bonnie Jean Flowers were married Jan. 22, 1952, in Manila. She died Oct. 10, 1999.
He and his wife owned and operated Dodd Used Furniture 45 years.
Survivors include two sons, Eddie and Jamie Dodd of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Lucita McNeely of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Truman Dodd of Glenallen, Mo., Willis Dodd of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Rita Estep of St. Clair, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home from 1 p.m. to service time Thursday.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Delbert Mueller officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
