James Arthur Calhoun Sr., 84, of Scott City died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 27, 1924, at Lilbourn, Mo., son of Charles Willis and Ethel Mae Jones Calhoun. He and Florence Elizabeth Owens were married Dec. 19, 1943, at Ancell.
Calhoun was a self-employed carpenter.
Survivors include his wife; a son, James Calhoun Jr. of Crocker, Mo.; three daughters, Marsha Dohogne of Scott City, Debbie Kern of Cape Girardeau, Kim Shambo of Greenview, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, four brothers, five sisters and a great-grandson.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Greg Shambo officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery.
