James Everett "Bake" Calhoun, 94, of Eldon, Mo., died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, at Jefferson City, Mo. He was born Nov. 26, 1912, at Matthews, Mo., son of the late James Frederick "Fritz" Calhoun and Nancy Louise Wilburn Calhoun. James Everett "Bake" Calhoun, 94, of Eldon, Mo., died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, at Jefferson City, Mo.

He was born Nov. 26, 1912, at Matthews, Mo., son of the late James Frederick "Fritz" Calhoun and Nancy Louise Wilburn Calhoun. He and Evia Hannah McKenzie were married on Jan. 29, 1934, at Matthews.

Calhoun worked as a farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eldon and a former member of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston.

Survivors include two daughters, Anita Hahs (James) of Jackson and Linda Greeson (Danny) of Eldon; a son, James Edward Calhoun (Tommie) of Champaign, Ill.; a sister, Elsie Streeter of Oran, Mo.; a brother, Fritzy Lee Calhoun of Maysville, Okla.; eight grandchildren, Janet Sanders of Jackson, Patrick Hahs of Almo, Ky., Ellen Hahs of Millersville; Christina Stafford of Jefferson City, Charles Greeson of Springfield, Mo., Scott Calhoun of Coal Valley, Ill., Julie Stoops of Durham, N.C., and Joseph Calhoun of Long Beach, Calif; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters and three brothers.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Blanchard Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev. Webb Manley will officiate, with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
