ORAN, Mo. -- James "Jim" Burris, 58, of Oran died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at Benton, Mo.

He was born May 16, 1949, in Cape Girardeau, son of Louis Harry Edward and Mildred Duty Burris.

Burris was employed by Agri-Trans Trucking in Cape Girardeau.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include a son, James Burris Jr. of Marshfield, Mo.; three daughters, Sheryl Scantlin of Summersville, Mo., Angela Bolt of Scott City, Christy Bruton of Strafford, Mo.; a sister, Mary Null of Scott City; and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and a grandchild.

Friends may call from noon to service time Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Mary Null officiating. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery at Chaffee with full military rites to be conducted.
