James Earl Burns, 66, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Services.

He was born Oct. 16, 1933, in Chicago, son of Daniel and May MacCallister Burns. He and Marilyn Urhahn were married Jan. 14, 1956. She preceded him in death.

Burns retired as a salesman at Van Matre Buick. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a former member of KUFC and Eagles Aerie.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

Survivors include a daughter, Teri Bradley of Cape Girardeau; and a friend, Bernice Glass of Cape Girardeau.

Friends may call at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel after 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Funeral with full military rites will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Roger Leveillee officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
