James Irvin Bowman, 74, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at the Lutheran Home. He was born July 21, 1929, in Harrisburg, Pa., son of Wellington Roy and Blanche Miriam Churchman Bowman. James Irvin Bowman, 74, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born July 21, 1929, in Harrisburg, Pa., son of Wellington Roy and Blanche Miriam Churchman Bowman.

Bowman was a 1947 graduate of Middletown High School in Middletown, Pa. He received a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering from Lehigh University in 1951.

He joined Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio, in June 1951. He held various management positions, including first plant manager in Cape Girardeau from 1969 until retiring in 1984.

Bowman was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Middletown, was active in Downtown Rotary Club in Cape Girardeau many years, and served on St. Francis Medical Center Board of Directors.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include a cousin, Robert Hamman of Aiken, S.C.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Middletown Cemetery.
