James Hal Bogle, 82, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of East Prairie, Mo., died Sunday, June 22, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 16, 1925, in Dexter, N.M., son of Hal Green and Inez Lucille Fay Bogle. He and Jean Lois Verstegen were married Sept. 7, 1946, in Sioux City, Iowa. She died June 2, 1990.
Bogle was president of Mount Level Farms and Big Oak Farms near East Prairie. He served on East Prairie School Board, was a director of Holloway School near East Prairie and member of Mississippi County Library Board.
He was a member of St. John Levee and Drainage District Board, was an honorary colonel of former governor Warren E. Hearnes, and was appointed by Hearnes to serve on the State Clean Air Commission.
Bogle was a member of Nelson Memorial Methodist Church in East Prairie, and taught Sunday school.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet Bogle of Santa Monica, Calif.; a brother, Clarence "Bill" Bogle of Dexter; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Friday at Nelson Memorial Church.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Dan Usher officiating. Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
