EAST PRAIRIE -- James Albert Scott, 51, of East Prairie died of an apparent heart attack Saturday, May 23, 1998, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Jan. 19, 1947, in Mississippi County, son of Arlie and Celester Goff Scott.
He lived all of his life in Mississippi County. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. He owned and operated East Prairie Roofing.
He served in the Army during World War II.
He married Karen Byassee on June 8, 1968.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Tim Parker of East Prairie and Aaron Scott of the home; two daughters, Kimberly Scott of the home and Melissa Givens of East Prairie; a brother, Harvey Scott of Hannibal; three sisters, Wendy Pope and Ruby Jackson, both of East Prairie, and Mary Higgins of Sikeston; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Shelby Chapel.
Brother Jerry Miller, pastor of the East Side Baptist Church in Trumann, Ark., will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.
