JONESBORO, Ill. -- James A. "Jim" Wallace, 88, of Jonesboro, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1993, at the VA Medical Center in Marion.
He was born May 13, 1905, in Equality, son of Charles and Mary Davis Wallace. He and Violet Slankard Simmons were married in 1941. She died Oct. 15, 1980.
Wallace was a member of Boaz Pentecostal Church, and formerly of Dongola.
Survivors include a daughter, Rosemary Hight of Anna; a son, Charles Wallace of Eddyville, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Brooksie Turner of Marion; two stepsons, Lee Simmons of New Burnside, Sam Simmons of Vienna; two brothers, Harry Wallace of Shawneetown, Monroe Wallace of Equality; a sister, Estella Smith of Anna; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two stepsons.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Crain Funeral Chapel in Dongola. The Rev. Alvin Thomas will officiate, with burial in Friendship Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today.
