CHARLESTON -- James Arthur Glenn, 68, of Charleston, died Wednesday, April 7, 1993, at Doniphan. He was born July 24, 1924, in Charleston, son of Leonard and Grace Kief Glenn. CHARLESTON -- James Arthur Glenn, 68, of Charleston, died Wednesday, April 7, 1993, at Doniphan.

He was born July 24, 1924, in Charleston, son of Leonard and Grace Kief Glenn. He and Naomi Bowman were married Feb. 12, 1946.

Glenn retired from farming in 1972, and then was administrative supply technician with Charleston National Guard until 1977.

Glenn served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Charleston VFW Post 4294, served as All State Commander from 1985-87, and was most recently named VFW State Chief of Staff.

He served as first place State District Commander and All American National District Commander 1989-90, was appointed national Aide-de-Camp 1987-91, State Officer of the Day 1990-91, served on State Membership Team, and was a member of Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mike Glenn of Dallas, Texas, Steve Glenn of East Prairie; two daughters, Robin Seabaugh of Charleston, Cathy Blunk of St. Charles; two sisters, Helen Johnson of Gordonville, Mildred Price of Sikeston; two half brothers, Bill Glenn of Jackson, Franklin Kidd of Germany; eight grandchildren, and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at McMikle Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Richard Combs will officiate, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by staff from Ft. Leonard Wood.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today.
