Jacob Lee Myres, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born March 4, 1922, in East Prairie, Mo., son of Albert and Maggie Olene Ferguson Myres.
He married Betty Byrd on Nov. 21, 1951, in St. Louis, Mo.
He was a member of LaCroix United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau and Laborers Local 1104.
He served in the Army from 1942 to 1943. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1952 and had worked for Colonial Service Station, Crites and Sailer Construction, and Melvin Rickard Construction.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry Lee Myres of Sikeston, Mo.; a daughter, Donna Jean Hitt of Jackson, Mo.; a sister, Lucy Burnett of St. Louis; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ron Watts officiating.
Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
