William E. "Jack" Strickland Jr., 70, of Jackson died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Jackson Manor.
He was born July 8, 1942, in Cape Girardeau, son of William E. "Jack" and Venita Masterson Strickland Sr. He graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1960. He married Shelby Tanner on Oct. 29, 1976, in Jackson.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Scott (Chanda) Strickland of San Antonio; two daughters, Julie (Steve) Howard of San Antonio and Gwen (Mike) Seabaugh of Advance, Mo.; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; three brothers, Tom (Judy) Strickland of Oak Ridge, John (Molly) Strickland of Jackson and Paul (Marti) Strickland of Dutchtown; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
Jack and Shelby were avid antique dealers for much of his life, most recently retiring from Strickland Engineering after 15 years. He was a member of Jackson Optimist, and attended Cape County Cowboy Church. He loved sports, especially Southeast Missouri State University Redhawks basketball, both men and women. He kept an immaculate yard, loved landscaping, and working and harvesting a large garden.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Jim Matthews officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
The family requests memorials be made to Patient Experience Fund at Southeast Cancer Center or a charity of your choice.
