JACKSON -- Oscar "Jack" Hoffmeister, 81, of Jackson died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 27, 1918, in Jackson, son of Matilda "Tillie" Hoffmeister. He and Betty Masters were married Jan. 3, 1947.
Hoffmeister worked at the Coca-Cola plant in Jackson from 1937 until retiring in 1984.
He was a lifelong member of Emanuel United Church of Christ; member, past commander and honor guard member of American Legion Post 158 in Jackson; and member of VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.
Hoffmeister served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and with Missouri National Guard in Jackson.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry Hoffmeister of Jackson, Jack Hoffmeister of Lakewood, Colo.; three daughters, Linda Hoffman of Jackson, Cheryln Landgraf of Oreana, Ill., Ann Hebert of Stow, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and two granddaughters.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today. An honor guard service will be held at 7:30.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Sam Roethemeyer will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
