Funeral service for John E. "Jack" Himmelberger, 3120 Independence, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church. Entombment will follow at 3 p.m. in Lorimier Cemetery Mausoleum.
There is no visitation.

The former businessman and civic leader died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was 79.
He was born March 22, 1917, at Morehouse, son of Harry Isaac and Dorothy Boutin Himmelberger. He and Dixie B. Stevenson were married Aug. 3, 1941, in Cape Girardeau.
Himmelberger received an associate degree from the University of Missouri in 1938, and attended the School of Law two years.
He was president of Himmelberger-Harrison Lumber Co., Himmelberger-Harrison Manufacturing Co., and State Bank of Morehouse. He had been director of Farmers and Merchants Bank, Missouri Utilities, and Hardwood Division Manufacturers Association.
Himmelberger received the Junior Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Service Award in 1950, Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver award in 1962, and Optimist Club past president's award in 1964.
He was a member and past president of Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce, director and past president of Associated Industries of Missouri, served on the Missouri Public Expenditure Survey Board of Trustess, director of Missouri Chamber of Commerce, served on Southeast Missouri Hospital Board of Trustees, was director of Southern States Industrial Council, and was a conferee with Citizens's Conference on Missouri Courts.
Himmelberger also served on the executive board of Southeast Missouri Council of Boy Scouts of America, and was a trustee of the council's Boy Scout Trust Fund. He was a participant with Missouri Trade Mission to Europe in 1964.
He was a member and deacon at First Presbyterian Church, member and past president of Cape Girardeau Lions Club, secretary-treasurer of Cape Girardeau Executives Club, member of American Legion, and was a Mason.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Donna Pikey of Cape Girardeau, Pamela Moulin of Battle Creek, Mich.; a sister, Margaret Dawson of St. Louis; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
