Jack Ueal Ford, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, April 1, 2019, at his home.
He was born May 27, 1940, in Cape Girardeau to George Albert and Ethel Jewel Wyatt Ford. He and Vernetta Rubel were married June 12, 1965, in Cape Girardeau. She preceded him in death April 6, 1997. He later married Laverne Davis McNeely on July 25, 2009, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel in Cape Girardeau.
He served in the Navy from 1958 to 1962.
Jack was an insurance agent with Allstate. From the 1980s to the 1990s, he and Vernetta operated Ford Furniture Co. in Chaffee, Missouri.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3838 and Eagles Aerie 3775. He also played keyboard and guitar for the bands Mike Smith and the Runaways and Nite Shift.
Survivors include his wife, Laverne McNeely Ford of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Alicia Louise (Jared) Long of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; two stepsons, Ryan (Melissa) McNeely of Cape Girardeau and Chris (Lisa) McNeely of Stafford, Virginia; a brother, Don (Donna) Ford of Waco, Texas; two sisters, Wilda Kitchen and Rebecca (Larry) Driskell of Cape Girardeau; and six grandchildren, Hannah Louise Long, Lauren Anne Long, Aaron Matthew Long, Kendal (Rebekah) McNeely, Cassidy McNeely and Cade McNeely.
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Weston Wildauer officiating. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau. Full military honors will be provided by Missouri Honors Team.
