Ivo W. Halter, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at Monticello House in Jackson.
He was born Dec. 1, 1913, in Charleston, Mo., son of Michael and Mary Carlisle Halter. He and Dorothy E. Nenninger were married Sept. 29, 1941. She died April 21, 2003.
Halter had been a carpenter. He was a member and former usher at St. Mary's Cathedral and member of Carpenters Local 1770.
He was a technician with the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include two sons, Mick Halter of Overland Park, Kan., David Halter of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Mary Schmalz of Georgetown, Colo., Cathy Vanderpool of Cape Girardeau, Patty Huber of Jackson; two brothers, Norbert and Martin Halter of Charleston; two sisters, Cecilia "Toots" Thompson of Florissant, Mo., Mary Ellen Stricker of Charleston; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Friends may call at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Parish prayers will be at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Patrick Nwokoye and Monsignor Richard Rolwing officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
