Ivan Elliott, 92, of Burnt Prairie, Ill., passed away Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at his home.
He was born Aug. 14, 1917, in Gray Township, Ill., son of Johnnie and Cora Ridenour Elliott. He and Elizabeth Joyce "Betty" Gabel were married Oct. 15, 1949. She preceded him in death Oct. 14, 2004.
Elliott was a World War II Army veteran and received a Purple Heart.
He was a farmer. He was a member of St. Polycarp Catholic Church in Carmi, Ill., Cancer Support Group, American Legion, VFW and Farm Bureau.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Lou Hagler of Cape Girardeau; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Cathy Elliott of Princeton, Ind.; six grandchildren, Louis and Cheryl Hagler, Sara, Jennifer, Chelsea and Taylor Elliott.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin Elliott.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. A prayer service will be held at 5.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Polycarp Church, with the Rev. Stephen Rudolphi officiating.
Burial will be in North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi.
